Awake in relationships – Weekthun

How mindfulness heals, deepens and enriches our relationships

8.10-15.10. in Smolnik, Pohorje, Slovenia

BUDNI V ODNOSIH - celotedenski meditacijski umik 8. 10. - 15.10. 2015 v mladinskem domu Smolnik na Pohorju

Whether in our family, at work or in love, we continuously create bonds, have friends and foes, yearn for fulfillment and are afraid of pain.

Every word and gesture that we exchange originates from a deep human yearning for connection and recognition. And yet we often experience mistrust, emotional hunger and indifference in our relationships.

Through the practice of mindfulness we explore what it means to have a loving and curious relationship to ourselves and how such an attitude can expand to our relationship with others. Through this kind of exploration we can grow in all our relationships – whether pleasant, full of disputes or seemingly unimportant.

Among other things we will be exploring the following questions:

What kind of relationship do we have with people around us? How do we relate to our loved ones and family? And what is our relation to the vendor at the newsstand?

What kind of relationship do we have with ourselves? Are we curious, open, loving to ourselves? Do we recognize the patterns that originate from fear and mistrust?

The programs includes intensive practice of mindfulness, lectures, work in pairs and groups and individual instruction from a meditation instructor. Parts of the program will be in silence.

The retreat will be lead by Shastri Beate Kirchhof-Schlage. She has been a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche since 1995. She has been the Director of the Shambhala Center in Hamburg, Germany, from 2005 until 2011.In 2005 she became a Shambhala Teacher and started teaching various meditation retreats and courses throughout Europe. In 2011 she was appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche as “Shastri” (senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist Tradition).Beate lives in Hamburg with her husband and three children.
